How the Net will reduce WTS ranks

nelly136-With all due respect, I think the internet has a long way to go. How does one find out what's real and what isn't? True the info and the community unites and informs, is it for the better? Is it true?
News flash:The main building of the Watchower Bible and Tract Society was levitated in the air for over an hour today. A group of ex-JWs surrounded the WT headquarters in Brooklyn. After circling seven times and shouting out answers to the WT study article before they were asked, the building slowly begain rising from its foundation revealing all sorts of skeletons in its basement. The Society offered no comment other than "They are looking into the book of Revelation for possible answers."
Could be or maybe not. That's the problem. So you try to verify from other sources, how do you know they are telling you truth. This goes on in the media now and it's hard to police.
Accountablity is the problem. I don't know you from Adam and you don't know me.
Hopefully the exchange of info will get people thinking and hopefully for themselves. All I want is the truth,
Just gimme some truth.- John Lennon -

Good to hear from you Explorer, glad you didn't slip away. Stay with us.
My biggest complaint with the Org. is that it is an Organization. It's an org. that tries to defy accountability. It's annonomous, acts like a prophet, yet has been proven to be false. Where in the Christian-Greek scriptures does it say that God or Jesus will act through a spokesman-like organization.Hope to keep heraring from you.

I just watched one of the WTBST's video's on Blood. It said the same thing that certain blood factions are acceptable. It also said that certain products made from blood factions are also acceptable for JW's.
The whole video had only one scriptual reference. The rest was a petty PR production. What was illustrated was surgery that was planned or elective operations. There was no mention of emergency surgery. I don't even remember them mentioning that someone could die if they didn't have blood. They never mentioned the WTBTS's old position that vacinations are totally unnecessary and the eqivalence of poluting ones body; or that transplants should be considered canabalism. No surprise there.

Godrules has a right to speak his mind.
The net is no more dangerous than the printed word was when it first became popular, or radio, or movies, or originally free speech. I think any form of communication will get people thinking. Except WWF. Dare we put the controll of information in the hands of one group of persons?
Godrules, who did you dedicate your life to? Jehovah or his organization?
I was baptized before the 1985 change. I'm still looking to find the scriptural support for this. New converts are now Baptized in the Father, the Son and the spirit-directed organization. That started me looking elsewhere.
The first question is: On the basis of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, have you repented of your sins and dedicated yourself to Jehovah to do his will? The second is: Do you understand that your dedication and baptism identify you as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in association with God’s spirit-directed organization? (Watchtower 6/1/85, pg. 30)

Hi Tigerlily.
Welcome to the family. We fight sometimes too.
I went to college before I was JW'd, so I can't help you from my personal experience.
I'm not fond of this country's educational system. It's run like a business and the richer you are, the easier it is to partake. Many of the Profs can be egotistical asses and you can't fight 'em. My advice is to study something that will get you a job. Just to pay back your loans. If you don't have any, have some fun, also. That may be your last chance until you get in the real world.
Probably, the Jw's that are giving you a hard time are jealous of you and fearful. You might learn something they are not able to. If it is not in the WTBTS's pubs then it doesn't exist.Come back soon, ya hear?

Disfellowship?????????????????????
by tattoogrl333 intoday's study topic included disfellowship.
i'm a little confused i was told that the only way you can be disfellowshipped was if you did something you knew went agains jehovah and would not repent for it.
but the only person you can repent to is jehovah......... then i was told that the elders can however "keep the flock pure" b/c if jehovah is not happy with the congregation he can take his holy spirit away.

Runningman is right:
Technically, any time they want. The theory is that there is no sin for which you are automatically disfellowshipped. It is your unrepentant attitude which gets you booted.
As you know, they can remove you if they deem you a "threat to the congregation." That can mean just about anything.

Hi Explorer: (hope you have good tires)
Welcome, welcome. It's good to see you're looking around. Don't give up.
True some who post have an ax(iom) to grind. Some have stumbled. Some have been seriously hurt and deceived by the "loving brothers" that are part of the organization. I have experienced outright slander from them, with the organization's blessing. Mind you these are supposedly God's annointed. That should get one wondering how much of a connect they really have with God. Well they can't know everything you may say, and that's what I've concluded. Are we expected to put our faith in any man or organization?
Please don't be offended in what is said but look for yourself.
One point that openned my eyes that something was wrong is this.
When I was baptized, I had believed as the society had said:A Christian, therefore, cannot be baptized in the name of the one actually doing the immersing or in the name of any man, nor in the name of any organization, but in the name of the Father, the Son and the holy spirit. This shows, among other things, that Christianity is not a denominational affair, that sects have nothing to do with it. (Watchtower. 7/1/55, pg. 411)
This was the vows I said when I was baptized as printed the Wt:(1) Have you repented of your sins and turned around, recognizing yourself before Jehovah God as a condemned sinner who needs salvation, and have you acknowledged to him that this salvation proceeds from him, the Father, through his Son Jesus Christ? (2) On the basis of this faith in God and in his provision for salvation, have you dedicated yourself unreservedly to God to do his will henceforth as he reveals it to you through Jesus Christ and through the Bible under the enlightening power of the holy spirit? (Watchtower 5/1/73, pg. 280)
Salvation is based on faith in Jesus. There is no mention of a spirit directed organization. And he brought them outside and said: “Sirs, what must I do to get saved?” They said: “Believe on the Lord Jesus and you will get saved, you and your household.” (Acts 16:30-31)
We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners from the nations, knowing as we do that a man is declared righteous, not due to works of law, but only through faith toward Christ Jesus, even we have put our faith in Christ Jesus, that we may be declared righteous due to faith toward Christ, and not due to works of law, because due to works of law no flesh will be declared righteous. (Galatians 2:15-16)Quietly, in 1985, new converts are now Baptized in the Father, the Son and the spirit-directed organization.
That was never my argeement. If that is still the WTBTS position, I don't know. Maybe others can fill me in. What are you baptized into?

The "Kingdom of God", Perhaps An Ear...
by MDS inthe "kingdom of god," perhaps an earthly kingdom?.
daniel 7:21, 22 says this:.
"i kept on beholding when that very horn made war upon the holy ones, and it was prevailing against them, and judgment itself was given in favor of the holy ones of supreme one, and the definite time arrived that the holy ones took possession of the kingdom itself.".

Although the direct kingdom that Jesus is a part of undoudtedly is heavenly. Must that apply to everyone?
Jesus says this:
But I tell YOU that many from eastern parts and western parts will come and recline at the table with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of the heavens; (Matthew 8:11)
The patriarchs died years before Jesus arrived on the earth. They would not qualify for heavenly residence since they could not put faith in his sacrifice that had not yet occurred. Why would Jesus refer to the kingdom of the heavens as a place where the notable patriarchs would reside in a symbolic sense? Was he trying to confuse everyone? It seems that all scripture pertaining to a resurrection that the faithful patriarchs expected was not heavenly but earthly. Could not the kingdom of God be understood as in the sense as being part of his arrangement. That would be resurrected on earth not in heaven.
The simplest answer would be easier for all to understand: we live on earth, we die here and we have the hope of being resurrected here.
